Class Outline:

Welcome to our class, perfect for beginners in polymer clay and those with limited craft skills who want to create a wearable item for themselves or as a gift. We’ll guide you through the design elements, including color, texture, shape, and size. We also have exciting plans for future classes on other techniques.

Feel free to research earring examples on the internet or in magazines that you’d like to make for your free choice pairs. Bring those examples with you, and I’ll help you create them, as long as they fit within our constraints of time, materials, and complexity.

What You’ll Create:

• Produce three pairs of basic earrings in three hours.
• Follow step-by-step instructions for the first pair of earrings.
• Design and create two pairs of your own.

All materials and equipment are provided.

Skills You’ll Learn:

• Basic information on polymer clay and other materials used in the class.
• Basic color theory to help you make color choices for your pairs.
• How to use the tools and equipment.
• Conditioning your clay.
• Rolling a consistent width slab.
• Adding texture to your clay.
• Applying additional color before baking.
• Cutting your clay with a cutter and cleaning up.
• Placing holes for findings and various methods to make a hole.
• Curing the clay.
• Dressing (sanding, etc.) the clay.
• Attaching jump rings and earring hooks/studs.

Housekeeping:

Please arrive early for a 12:30 PM start. You’ll need and want the full three hours. Parking at Cafe Mojo Mundaring can be limited. If you can’t find a space, return to the roundabout and park in the numerous bays available. Harmony Hall is located at the rear of the cafe in an octagonal building. The cafe kitchen will be open until 2 PM, and you can order from their menu. I’ll provide a short break, or you can take a break at an appropriate stage in your creating.

Booking:

Advanced bookings are essential as spaces are limited. Please bring confirmation of your booking to the class. The class needs 4 paid participants to commence. If this number isn’t reached and the class is cancelled, a full refund will be provided.
